Community connections: Kids can decorate pumpkins at library (Detroit Free Press)
Children can make a free Halloween craft Saturday at the Sterling Heights Public Library. Small pumpkins will be available for children to decorate at 2 p.m. at the library, 40255 Dodge Park at Utica. Parents and caregivers can assist. A Colonial Liberty Tea is to be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Longacre House, 24705 Farmington Road.

Library branch hosts blood drive Thursday (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
High Ridge — The Northwest Branch of the Jefferson County Library will host a blood drive from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The library is at 5680 Highway PP in High Ridge. The Red Cross will conduct the blood drive. Donors must be 17 or older and weigh more than 110 pounds.
